Badass Santa
Between 24/12 and 6/1 it's possible to finish XMAS FIVE with the Badass Santa title! All you have to do is to complete all five routes within one calendar day (from 00:00 to 23:59 the same day). You cannot do spread it over two days with one night in between, even if you finish in less than 24 h.
Healthy Santa
Complete the challenge between November 28 and January 6.
Each route has a suggested starting point and our instructions are based on this. However, feel free to start anywhere along the route. As long as you follow the route direction and return to your starting point.
The routes are hidden until 28/11 and reveled each Advent Sunday morning (also on Xmas Eve).
Unfortunately, we do not have the option or permission to label / mark out all routes.
With each route there comes a map with instructions, images, and a GPX file. Read the instructions and look at the images before starting so that you can plan ahead. Open the detailed map on your phone's browser and zoom in if necessary.
For better precision download the GPX-file into your favourite tracking app.
There are two ways to do this.
1) Open the map. Press the little target button in the lower left corner to activate GPS tracking. Note: this function is not 100% accurate and show wrong position at times.
2) For better accuracy use the GPX-files we created for each route. Just download them into your favourite tracking app (eg Strava, Runkeeper and Garmin) and get going. Another simple app is "GPX-Viewer", available for free on App Store and Google Play Store.
No. There are sections without any lamp posts which is why we recommend that you complete each route when the sun is out. Unless you have a headlamp. Remember: always stay safe!
No. We try to design all routes so that they are easy to complete. But we fully understand that there are times when it's difficult to stay 100% on our intended path. Don't worry if you accidentally make a detour. The total distance must be equal to the original route. If a route is 7 km you need to collect 7 km (or more) before you finish the route.
First of all you have to run or walk together. Leave no one behind. Once your team has completed all routes you can enter your team name upon registering your results. This is don on the Report page (available on December 24th).
First make sure you've completed the entire challenge. Enter all results on the Report page (available December 24th). If you want you may also include the result link from your tracking app (eg Strava, Runkeeper, Garmin). However, this is optional.
Once you have completed the entire challenge, you can order the beanie via the Report page (available December 24th). The beanie will be delivered within 15 working days of placing the order. The registration and order must be completed between 24/12 – 6/1.
Yes. But there are some sections with narrow paths and stairs that requires a extra caution. It's also ok to deviate slightly from the intended route to get around any obstacles. As long as the total distances is on par with the original route.
